Top Secret Tap Room: A New Gathering Place

One of the exciting new additions to Fort Ritchie is the Top Secret Tap Room, housed in Building 102. Originally built in 1934 as a regimental headquarters for the Maryland National Guard, the building has a rich history, including use as a theatre during WWII and various other purposes over the years. A scene from an upcoming television series was even filmed inside. The Top Secret Tap Room aims to revive the spirit of the fort by providing a space for good drinks, food, and service.

The Tap Room is not just a place to enjoy a drink; it is a venue for unforgettable events. On July 11, from 6 PM to 8 PM, the Tap Room will host its first-ever Trivia Night, inviting locals and visitors to engage in a fun and interactive evening. This event marks the beginning of what promises to be a series of community-centered activities at Fort Ritchie.

Mountain Top Ice Cream Shop: A Sweet Treat for Summer

As summer unfolds, the Mountain Top Ice Cream Shop is set to become a favorite spot for both residents and visitors. Open until early October, the shop will offer a delightful array of ice cream treats. Operating hours are Fridays from 4 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 PM to 8 PM. This seasonal shop adds to the charm of Fort Ritchie, providing a perfect way to cool down and enjoy a summer day at the historic site.

The restoration of the Finger Buildings and the introduction of new businesses and lodgings at Fort Ritchie signify a new chapter for this historic site. The blend of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces promises to create a thriving community hub. With initiatives like the Top Secret Tap Room and the Mountain Top Ice Cream Shop, Fort Ritchie is poised to become a destination for both history enthusiasts and those looking for a unique place to live, work, and play.
