BALTIMORE, MD News (4/16/2024) – In a significant development in the ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking and related violence, Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has announced the indictment of 15 individuals from two separate drug trafficking organizations operating in Baltimore City. These indictments are the result of extensive investigations into criminal conspiracies involving the trafficking of large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as firearm offenses.

Attorney General Brown emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of Maryland communities, stating, “I will not tolerate criminals who overrun neighborhoods and bring in illegal drugs and deadly guns. Marylanders deserve safe and peaceful communities.” The collaborative effort involved various law enforcement agencies, including the Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott’s Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS), the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Unit, and local, state, and federal partners.

One of the investigations, known as the Longwood-North-Dukeland Investigation, focused on a drug-trafficking organization operating in Northwest Baltimore. Undercover detectives made controlled purchases of firearms and narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. This operation led to the seizure of 14 firearms, including illegal assault rifles and stolen firearms, along with significant amounts of controlled dangerous substances (CDS). Ten individuals were indicted as a result of this investigation.

The Morrell Park investigation targeted a drug trafficking organization using a convenience store as a distribution hub for fentanyl and cocaine. Detectives observed daily narcotics distribution activities and seized four firearms, over 2,000 pills of fentanyl, 200 grams of cocaine, and narcotics proceeds. Five individuals were indicted for their roles in this conspiracy.
