Residents of Winchester and surrounding areas have an opportunity to step back in time this weekend with a Civil War Living History encampment scheduled at Fort Collier. The event, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 19th and 20th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, will offer a variety of historical reenactments and educational displays.

The encampment at Fort Collier, located at 922 Martinsburg Pike in Winchester, will feature simulated skirmishes, where attendees can witness firsthand the tactics and sounds of Civil War battles. Demonstrations of weaponry used during the era will also be a highlight, providing a visceral understanding of the military technology of the 19th century. Visitors will have the chance to embark on guided battlefield tours, gaining insight into the historical significance of the site and the events that unfolded there.

In addition to the live reenactments, the Fort Collier Civil War Center will be showcasing newly discovered artifacts within the Stine Farmhouse Museum.
