Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler Models Recalled Over Potential Wheel Defect

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is initiating a voluntary safety recall affecting certain 2026 model year Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Wrangler vehicles due to a potential defect in the steel wheels. According to information submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles may have been manufactured with steel wheels that have a thin wall condition. This defect could lead to cracking and eventual separation of the wheel, potentially compromising vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash without prior warning.

The recall encompasses 35 Jeep Gladiator vehicles produced between November 10, 2025, and November 15, 2025. Additionally, 606 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured between November 10, 2025, and November 16, 2025, are included in this safety campaign. The manufacturer has stated that 100% of the potentially involved vehicles are estimated to have the defect. The suspect vehicles were identified through supplier and vehicle production records. Vehicles manufactured outside of these specific production dates or those not equipped with a steel wheel are not part of this recall.

Chrysler will notify dealers about the recall on or about July 23, 2026, and will begin notifying owners on or about September 4, 2026. The remedy for the affected vehicles will involve an inspection of the steel wheel and valve stem. If necessary, both the steel wheel and valve stem will be replaced. The remedy component will be a new steel wheel and valve stem. Owners can expect to receive notification regarding the recall and the repair process in the coming months. Until the inspection and potential replacement are completed, owners of affected vehicles are advised not to drive their vehicles and to park them outside. The manufacturer has a general reimbursement plan on file for any expenses incurred related to this recall. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) will be searchable to determine if a specific vehicle is affected starting on July 23, 2026. As of the reporting date, Chrysler has not reported any customer assistance records, warranty claims, field reports, accidents, or injuries related to this specific issue.
