Washington D.C. – A citizen of Slovakia residing in the United States as a green card holder has been arrested for allegedly registering to vote and casting a ballot in federal elections in New Jersey while falsely claiming U.S. citizenship. Charitun is now facing federal charges for two alleged offenses: illegally voting in a federal election and making false statements during his application for U.S. citizenship. These charges stem from an investigation by HSI New Jersey, conducted in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and USCIS. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, which is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin D. Bleiberg.
