A congressional task force is set to convene a public hearing to delve into the controversial MKULTRA experiments conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The hearing, organized by the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, will examine the history and classification of these mind-control programs, scrutinizing how they aligned with the CIA’s mandate to protect national security. Furthermore, the session will address the intelligence community’s alleged reluctance to declassify information pertaining to MKULTRA and the subsequent impact of this lack of transparency on public trust in federal institutions.
