The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall affecting approximately 17,730 Manik and Apex-branded ATX computer power supplies. These units are being recalled due to a significant safety hazard: the potential for electrical shock and electrocution. The primary concern is the absence of a permanent, on-product warning label that identifies the risks associated with opening or disassembling the power supply unit. This oversight poses a serious risk of injury or even death to consumers.

The recall, issued in conjunction with Canada where an additional 500 units were sold, encompasses ATX Computer Power Supplies in various wattages, including 450W, 750W, 1000W, and 1200W models. Both Manik and Apex branding are affected, with units available in black or white and secured by four screws, one of which is covered by a tamper-evident seal. These power supply units were sold both as standalone components and as part of pre-built gaming computers. The affected products were available for purchase on http://www.ApexGamingPCs.com from December 2021 through February 2026, with prices ranging from $70 to $150. Apex Gaming PCs Inc., based in Houston, Texas, is the importer of these units, which were manufactured in China.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled computer power supplies. Apex Gaming PCs Inc. is offering two remedies. The first option is a free repair, which involves mailing consumers a permanent, UL-recognized, heat-resistant adhesive safety label. This label will include an ANSI-compliant “Danger/Warning” for shock hazards and a “No User-Serviceable Parts” indication. Alternatively, consumers who are uncomfortable applying the label themselves can request a free replacement unit. In this case, the original unit must be returned using the provided shipping label and packaging that accompanies the replacement. Under no circumstances should consumers attempt to open, disassemble, or service the power supply unit themselves. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers can contact Apex Gaming PCs Inc. for assistance by calling 833-946-1418 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, emailing Support@ApexGamingPCs.com, or using the online chat feature on their website during the same hours. Further information can also be found on the recall page at https://apexgamingpcs.com/pages/psu-recall or by visiting http://www.ApexGamingPCs.com and navigating to the “Info and Recall Information” section.
