The events leading to Vega’s arrest began on November 16, 2025, when investigators with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force observed a black Chrysler 300, lacking registration plates, being operated by an individual wearing a black mask. This occurred at the intersection of MD 704 and Glenarden Parkway in Glenarden. When troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver of the Chrysler reportedly fled the scene, striking a Maryland State Trooper who was outside of his vehicle. Fortunately, the trooper involved in this initial incident sustained no injuries. Authorities issued an alert for the vehicle.
Shortly after the first incident, the same Chrysler was located at a gas station on Crain Highway in Bowie. Investigators from the Maryland Car Rally Task Force attempted to conduct a second traffic stop. During this attempt, the driver again struck another Maryland State Trooper who was positioned outside of his vehicle before fleeing the scene. The trooper who was struck in this second encounter was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.
Through ongoing investigative efforts, which included witness interviews and collaboration with law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania and Virginia, the operator of the Chrysler was identified as Isaiah Vega. Vega was apprehended in Prince George’s County on March 23, 2026, around 8:30 p.m. He was subsequently transported to the Department of Corrections for processing. The Maryland Car Rally Task Force received assistance in this investigation from various local, state, and federal partners, including the Maryland State Apprehension Team, the U.S. Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, and Pennsylvania State Police. The investigation into these incidents remains active and ongoing.
