Baltimore City residents are invited to participate in the Mayor’s Annual Spring Cleanup and Day of Service, an initiative aimed at beautifying neighborhoods across the city. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This citywide effort, organized in conjunction with the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Department of Transportation (DOT), encourages community members, volunteer groups, and associations to register and contribute to making Baltimore cleaner and more visually appealing as warmer weather approaches.

Those interested in joining the cleanup can register by calling 311 or by visiting the official Baltimore City website dedicated to the event. The registration period is open from March 16 to April 18, 2026. For those looking to contribute to their immediate community, registration can be completed through the 311 service. Additionally, there are opportunities for individuals or groups interested in sponsoring designated mayoral cleanup sites, with a specific form available for such inquiries.
Community groups and residents who register their cleanup activities will have the opportunity to request debris collection. City trucks will be dispatched to designated locations on the day of the cleanup to collect bagged debris. Individual residents participating in cleaning efforts around their own neighborhoods are also encouraged to register, with the guidance that their collected bags should be placed out with their regular trash collection. The quantity of bags provided varies: registered individual residents can receive up to five bags, while community groups and neighborhood associations that register in advance are eligible for up to 50 bags.
Registered participants can collect cleanup bags between March 18 and April 20. Bag distribution points are located at 2840 Sisson Street, open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays, and at 111 Kane Street, available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays. A service request number, obtained during registration, is required to pick up the bags. It is important to note that the DPW will not be collecting bulk trash items during the Spring Cleanup, and roll-off dumpsters will not be provided as part of this initiative. Residents utilizing the Residential Drop-Off Centers are reminded to adhere to the centers’ guidelines, which prohibit the use of commercial vehicles.
Students in grades 3 through 12 have the opportunity to earn service-learning hours by participating in the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup. To qualify, students must engage in a cleaning or greening activity organized by the DPW, a school, a 311-registered volunteer group, or an approved organization. Participants can earn up to four service-learning hours. Those requiring a Service-Learning Verification Form should contact Keita Wells at Keita.Wells@baltimorecity.gov. Furthermore, residents can reduce their stormwater fees by participating in a registered Volunteer Community Cleanup. To be eligible for a credit, volunteers must register their cleanup efforts through 311. Registered volunteers will receive an application and certificate for a stormwater fee credit via email or mail. Upon submission of the application with the certificate, volunteers can receive a $10 credit. This credit can be earned up to three times annually, resulting in a maximum annual stormwater fee credit of $30. Further information on the stormwater fee credit can be found on the Stormwater Fee webpage or by calling (410) 361-9174 and requesting to speak with someone from Watershed Planning and Partnerships.
