The recalled fuel containers were sold online at Amazon.com between August 2024 and May 2025 for about $40. The containers are red with black caps and yellow spouts on each end. They feature dual chambers, with one side designed for 6 liters of gasoline and the other for 2.5 liters of oil. The containers have “Scepter” and “Essence Danger” embossed on their sides.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, these fuel containers violate mandatory safety standards. Specifically, they lack flame mitigation devices, which are required under the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act. This deficiency poses a severe risk of flash fire. Furthermore, the product’s spout is not child-resistant, a violation of the Children’s Gasoline Burn Prevention Act. This non-compliance presents a danger of burn injuries and accidental poisoning to children who may come into contact with gasoline. No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers who own these recalled fuel containers are urged to immediately stop using them and store them out of reach of children. To receive a full refund, customers must contact Mameix Retail at 587-816-2804 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or by emailing scepterrecall@gmail.com. Consumers will be instructed to write “Recalled” on the container with a permanent marker and then submit a photograph of the marked container in the trash to the provided email address to confirm its disposal. The recalled units were imported by Mameix Retail, Inc. of Canada and manufactured in Canada.
