Washington County’s Division of Emergency Services (DES) has announced the expansion of its emergency medical services with the establishment of a new EMS transport unit at the Rohrersville Fire Station. This development, approved by the Board of County Commissioners, aims to significantly improve emergency medical coverage for residents in the southern part of the county. The First Hose Company of Boonsboro will operate the transport services from its sub-station located on MD Route 67.

The new EMS transport unit will be staffed by two existing County employees, a strategy designed to ensure operational efficiency without incurring additional personnel costs. This move is expected to increase the number of daily EMS transport units available across the county, thereby bolstering overall emergency response capabilities. The First Hose Company of Boonsboro has already secured all necessary approvals from the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association (WCVFRA) and is prepared to commence operations.
