Roby also has a background on the board of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. His current affiliations include the Black History Committee of the Friends of the Thomas Balch Library and the Howe House Historians in Montclair, New Jersey. Roby’s research expertise includes a specialization in African American and slavery-era records, with a particular focus on historical enslaved populations in Virginia. His personal research currently examines the individuals his ancestors enslaved on their Fauquier County farm.
