The airport tarmac will transform into an aviation exhibition, featuring a diverse collection of both modern and vintage aircraft. Visitors will have the chance to get up close to impressive planes such as an L-39 jet trainer, a TBM Avenger, and a PT-17 Stearman. Adding to the aerial spectacle, the Northern Virginia Radio Control Club will be conducting demonstrations of advanced radio-controlled planes and jets. Beyond the aircraft displays, the event will include various aviation-themed exhibits and educational activities, as well as inflatable slides for younger attendees. A selection of food and beverage vendors will be on site, with craft beer available for purchase.
The highlight of the airshow will undoubtedly be the aerobatic performances scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The skies will come alive with skilled pilots from Flying Circus, Scott Francis Airshows, RJ Gritter, Warbird Thunder Airshows, Jersey Jerks, David Windmiller, and retired Marine Corps Aviator Lieutenant General Bob “Rooster” Schmidle. These daring aerial maneuvers are contingent upon favorable weather conditions and may be altered or canceled for safety reasons. In the event of severe storms or unsafe flying conditions, the entire airshow could be canceled, with updates to be promptly communicated through official channels.
To accommodate the expected crowds, the airshow gates will open at 11 a.m. Admission to the event is free. For those driving to the airshow, satellite parking will be available at Heritage High School (520 Evergreen Mills Road) and Segra Field (42095 Loudoun United Drive). Continuous, complimentary shuttle service will operate from these locations from 10:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Parking is also an option at the Leesburg Park and Ride; however, guests utilizing this location should be aware that no shuttle service will be provided, and walking will be required to reach the event. For those utilizing rideshare services, a designated pickup and drop-off location has been established at 41951 Gourley Transit Drive in Leesburg, situated approximately one-third of a mile from the south entrance of the airshow. It is important to note that parking or dropping off directly at the airport will not be permitted. Wheelchair-accessible shuttles and parking will be available at both satellite parking locations.
Attendees are advised to prepare for the outdoor event by bringing essentials such as water, sunscreen, hats, and umbrellas. For the safety and enjoyment of all, the airshow organizers have stated that pets, tents, wheeled coolers, and outside alcohol are not permitted. A comprehensive list of prohibited items can be found on the event’s official website.
