Per a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, a Tobyhanna resident has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine in Monroe County. The sentence follows a September 2022 incident in which 36-year-old Pernell Riddick was found with the drugs and two 9-millimeter handguns.

Federal prosecutors stated that the weapons, a Smith & Wesson and a Taurus G2C, were tied to Riddick’s drug trafficking activities. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.
Riddick’s prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice effort aimed at dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, as well as curbing violent crime. The program combines resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood to target high-level offenders.
