Per an announcement from the Department of Homeland Security, a new nationwide advertising campaign is promoting a program encouraging undocumented immigrants to voluntarily leave the United States in exchange for financial support and travel assistance. The initiative, tied to the CBP Home app, offers up to $1,000 in aid and a no-cost flight to their country of origin for those who choose to self-deport, along with the possibility of legally returning in the future.

According to DHS, immigrants who fail to use the CBP Home app and do not leave voluntarily will face fines in the thousands of dollars, mandatory detention, and forced removal from the U.S., with a permanent ban on reentry. The department has stated the goal is to provide a clear choice—voluntary departure with potential for future legal entry, or the consequences of enforcement actions. The campaign, featuring 30- and 60-second ads in multiple languages, will run on U.S. and international broadcast television and online platforms.
The ads are part of a broader effort by DHS under Secretary Kristi Noem to reduce the number of undocumented immigrants currently in the United States. The department emphasizes that this initiative is designed to give individuals the opportunity to exit the country on their own terms while preserving a legal path to return later. The outreach is intended to ensure the affected population understands the consequences of remaining in the country without authorization, as well as the benefits of complying voluntarily.
No information has been provided on how long the financial assistance or flight offers will remain available.
