Smithsburg Approves New Camera Purchase Contract, No Competitive Bids Required

SMITHSBURG, MD News (9/6/2022) – At their September 6th Town Council meeting, the Town of Smithsburg approved in a 3-2 vote a new camera purchase contract with Trinity Security Integrators, with councilmembers Dan and Gonzalez opposed. This new contract utilizes cameras manufactured by Turing Video, based out of San Mateo, CA, addressing the security concerns present with the previous version of the contract, which was retracted on August 23.

Washington County to Hold Free Scrap Tire Event

HAGERSTOWN, MD (8/26/2022) – The Washington County Department of Environmental Management announces will hold a free scrap tire day on September 10, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Forty West Landfill. This event is provided for Washington County residents only and there is no charge to drop off up to five tires for residents of the same household. Passenger and light truck tires will be accepted on or off the rim. Participants will be required to show a valid driver’s license with a Washington County address and may make one trip to the event. No tires will be accepted from commercial entities.

Washington County Seeking Applicants for Ethics Commission

HAGERSTOWN, MD (8/23/2022) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Washington County Ethics Commission. Qualified applicants shall be Washington County residents of good moral character and sound judgment who can interpret and administer the Washington County Ethics Ordinance.

Improving Access to Hagerstown and Washington County Government through Streaming TV

HAGERSTOWN, MD – Radio Free Hub City has released its public affairs streaming TV channel, named “RFHC-Gov”. This channel will initially feature local government content including City of Hagerstown, Washington County Commissioners, and Washington County Board of Education. Additional local government content will be added as it becomes available.
