The federal government has introduced a tipline to identify and report efforts to continue Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives under alternative descriptions, following new executive orders aimed at dismantling such programs. The OPM’s guidance highlights concerns that some agencies might attempt to circumvent the orders by using “coded or imprecise language” to disguise DEIA-related activities. Employees are urged to report changes to contract descriptions or job roles made after November 5, 2024, that may be intended to obscure connections to DEIA or similar ideologies. Reports can be submitted to DEIAtruth@opm.gov. The memo emphasizes that there will be no adverse consequences for timely reporting, while failure to disclose such information may result in penalties.

Federal agencies are also required to remove all DEIA-related media and cancel any associated contracts and training. Compliance reports detailing these steps, along with plans for addressing workforce reductions in DEIA offices, must be submitted to the OPM by January 31, 2025.
