The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through Saturday morning, as flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Widespread rainfall totals of 1-3 inches are expected through tonight, with localized totals up to 4 inches. This may lead to localized instances of flooding.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
At the Potomac River in Shepherdstown, a crest of 15.6 feet is expected by Sunday at 8 am. At 19.0 feet, Water covers the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the Shepherdstown boat ramp. Significant portions of the C&O Canal towpath are flooded.
